Job Description

Boeing South Carolina is seeking an Interiors Structural Analysis Engineer to join the Interiors Responsibility Center (IRC) located in Ladson, South Carolina. This position will support the stress analysis activity for interior commodities installed in the 787 and other Product Improvement activities in work.

Primary Responsibilities
will include (but are not limited to):

  • Review and approval of Installation Requirement Models (IRMs) in ENOVIA/CATIAV5 to support an adequate compliance showing to applicable FAA & Boeing requirements for interior commodities owned by the IRC in South Carolina using standard Boeing interiors stress analysis methods and practices.
  • Development, integration and documentation of strength check notes for interior commodities.
  • Develop test plans, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate/verify new airplane interiors monuments and components meet applicable requirements and specifications with FAA authorized reviewers.
  • Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
  • Supports in-service products by leading investigations into failures and analyzing improvements.
  • Fostering teamwork through coordination with offsite interiors engineering groups and structural Authorized Reviewers to establish the product's environment, as required.
  • Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.
  • Works under minimal direction.

Qualifications 

Typical Education / Experience

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

 

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required)

  • Experience in airplane Interiors analysis methods and practices
  • Experience as an engineer on Interiors Responsibility Center (IRC) designed and/or built commodities.
  • Experience in composite and metallic analysis.
  • Experience developing and presenting material on a variety of topics, both technical and administrative, to leadership.
  • Experience creating strength check notes or generating/approving structural analysis for related interior payloads commodities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience functioning as a Stress Services Design Approval Engineer (DAE) & Certification Plan Input Author
  • Experience in Finite Element Modeling
  • Experience using NASTRAN
  • Experience with Boeing Analysis Methods
  • Experience working with IRC (Interiors Responsibility Center) products.
