Description

Oversees the Disability Specialist(s) and is responsible for all disability related responses that are sent on behalf of the department. The supervisor will implement new and modified rules the DOT passes that are related to caring for our passengers with disabilities. Also, will assemble the regulatory required annual compilation of all disability complaints received and submit the summary to the DOT.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Thorough & Accurate Responses: Investigates customer complaints related to traveling with disabilities and responds with articulate and dispositive responses to the customers, within DOT guidelines. Brings potential violations to the attention of offending departments in order to facilitate a solution.
  • Compile Required Spreadsheet: Assembles a required spreadsheet of all customer disability complaints received from all parties throughout the calendar year along with all supporting documentation pertaining to each complaint. The summary of this spreadsheet is submitted to the DOT on the last Monday of every January for the previous year.
  • Implement DOT Rules: Responsible to collect stakeholder feedback related to SNPRM’s and NPRM’s, and relay to outside counsel for submission to DOT. When the rule is passed, the supervisor will be responsible to ensure Spirit is in compliance by the date the DOT provides.

Required skills/experience:

  • 1-9 Direct Reports
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years’ experience
  • Works under minimal supervision/direction
  • Travel up to 10%
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Department of Transportation Regulations related to the Disability rule (Part 382).
  • Basic knowledge of international aviation conventions.
