Job Description

A supervisor leads and coordinates the activities of workers in one or more

This description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification. It is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities, and qualifications which may be required of employees assigned to this job classification.

A Supervisor leads and coordinates the activities of workers. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. Recommends or initiates personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures. May train new workers. Maintains time and attendance records as well as personnel files and performance records. Confers with other Supervisors and/or Managers to coordinate activities of individual departments. May confer with workers' representatives to resolve grievances. When supervising workers engaged chiefly in one occupation or craft, is required to be adept in the activities of the workers supervised. When supervising workers engaged in several occupations, is required to possess general knowledge of the activities involved. May be required to operate Company equipment and/or drive Company vehicles.  


(Operational)

Interprets specifications, blueprints, and/or job orders to workers and assigns duties. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules, using knowledge. Recommends measures to improve production methods, performance, and the quality of the product, and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency. Ensures adherence of company safety standards, company regulations, Collective Bargaining Agreements and procedures.


(Administrative)

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers. Determines procedures, work schedules, and expedites workflow. Issues written and oral instructions. Assigns duties and examines work for completeness and conformance to policies and procedures. Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates. Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates. May perform or assist subordinates in performing duties. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of operation including Supply Chain functions.

  • Previous experience in area of responsibility preferred, warehousing, shipping, receiving, cargo.

  • Must be able to select, train, guide, and motivate employees.

  • Above average written and oral communication and interpersonal skills is required.

  • College degree in Business, Accounting, or Computer Science or commensurate experience is required.

  • Capability to handle multiple projects concurrently.

  • Working knowledge of PC's and software applications.

  • Budgeting experience is a plus.

  • Ability to read, write, fluently speaks, and understands the English language.

  • Must fulfill FAA criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA), if applicable.

  • Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.

  • Speak audibly and clearly communicate with employees, peers, and managers.

  • Must be able to select, train, motivate, evaluate, counsel, and terminate subordinates.

  • Ability to read, understands, explain, and enforce Company policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Capable of reviewing work product of assigned area(s) and recommending changes to improve productivity and efficiency.

  • Ability to prepare written instructions and reports.

  • Twist, turn and reach at desk while working with PC and telephone.

  • Ability to learn PC applications and apply knowledge.

  • Must work well under stress of meeting deadlines.

  • Must work with minimal supervision.

  • Reports to work on a regular and timely basis.

  • Must be able to work off shifts and holidays.
