Responsibilities:

The primary role of Supply Chain Management is to collaborate with Internal Stakeholders and Suppliers to identify cost savings opportunities, strategically sourcing high quality products and services, and develop the best strategies to allow for a best in class supply chain.

 

The Airframe Team strategically sources various Airframe components from suppliers, up to and including heavy and line maintenance and original manufactured replacement parts, manages strategic RFPs, and analyzes annual spend. This Team maintains high performance relationships with suppliers to drive continuous improvement through every level of the Supply Chain.   

 

The Airframe Intern will assist this department with a variety of responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Help administer Request for Proposals (RFPs)
  • Work out of multiple systems, and with various workgroups, to gather necessary information to make informed decisions that create the most value for SWA.
  • Compare/analyze bids from RFPs
  • Review agreements – work with Legal on standardization of agreements
  • Keep systems updated with the latest negotiated pricing and lead times for parts

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

Education:

  • Progress towards degree in Supply Chain Management, Aviation Management, Operations Management, Logistics, Industrial Management, Business, or related degree.

  • Minimum junior level.
  • To be eligible, must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours).
  • Maintained 2.75 or above cumulative GPA.

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:

  • Experience with Pivot Tables, Vlookup preferred
  • Experience with building tables and queries in Access preferred
  • Self-starter, critical thinker and innovator of ideas that could lower cost and increase value for SWA
  • A Supply Chain related internship within the past 18 months preferred
  • Experience with negotiating contracts/bids with vendors preferred
  • Ability to read contract language and excel data sheets for critical analysis.
  • Aviation background and enthusiasm preferred
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight deadlines
  • Problem solving ability with strong written/verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work independently and willingness to function as part of a Team
