Job Description

PROGRAM INFORMATION:

The C2BMC National Team provides technical solutions to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) program. C2BMC is the integrating element for the Ballistic Missile Defense System and links various sensors and weapon systems. The system provides capabilities to integrate and synchronize missile defense systems and operations, providing a layered defense against multiple ranges of threats and in all phases of flight.

 

This position requires an current Secret Clearance (or higher).

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to assist with analyses, development and verification of a lifecycle balanced system. Assists with analyses to evaluates customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Assists with various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Assists with analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
  • Analyze system performance (requirements), integrates technical parameters, and assures compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture(s).
  • Responsibilities include analysis of hardware performance characteristics and comparison against requirements; performing comparative data analysis; preparation and review of site drawings and plans; review of the content and details of technical products; and acting as a technical interface to National Team C2BMC working level counterparts. 
  • Systems Engineer to assist in full cycle systems engineering of advanced concepts including CONOPS development, system interface design, algorithm design, tool development and system analysis (functional and performance).
  • The engineer will require the ability to contribute to the development of system requirements and use cases, develop CONOPS, plan test events, develop test architectures, conduct peer reviews, and analyze test results.
  • Assessing how the C2BMC prototype system performs using state vectors, integrating source tracks into the prototype and assessing track processing results, generating and assessing concurrent radar and sensor tracks during M&S and live flight events, and enhancing experimental prototypes based on results of these activities.
  • The System Engineer will apply these results to identify and work to enhance C2BMC for future operations.

This position requires candidate acceptance by industry partner resource control board.

 

This position requires an current Secret Clearance (or higher).

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills required. Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
  • Able to implement engineering plans within a project.
  • Analysis of hardware requirements and performance (heat, power cycles, and rack layouts), preparation and review of diagrams and technical drawings. 
  • Identification and definition of desired capabilities, fielding of new capabilities, system-of-system definition, integration practices and methods, communicating the desired capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users, and missile defense and sensor related data analysis.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in Ballistic Missile Defense is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of command and control systems desired
  • Experience with professional analysis tools: Matlab, Excel, S-code, STK, MS-Windows; Unix/Linux Coding skills (Java, C++, or shell scripts) a plus.
  • Data parsing and coding for tool development Familiarity with US missile defense systems (e.g. C2BMC) or message formats (e.g. TADIL-J, VMF, B-series...)

Qualifications 

Typical Education/Experience: Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position requires an active (or the ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • This position requires a current Secret Clearance (or higher).
  • This position requires a Bachelor's Degree (or higher).

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Science or Engineering.
  • Experience in Ballistic Missile Defense is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of command and control systems desired
