Job Description

Position Overview: 

Boeing Defense, Space & Security’s (BDS) X-37B is the United States’ most advanced, state-of-the-art reentry space craft. Boeing is the prime contractor for the X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV), an unmanned space vehicle that is used by the United States Air Force to explore reusable space vehicle technologies in support of long-term space objectives. Objectives of the X-37B program include space experimentation, risk reduction, and concept of operations development. Managed by Experimental Systems Group (ESG), a unit of Boeing Space and Intelligence Systems, the X-37B is a flexible, affordable and responsive platform balancing the characteristics of a spacecraft and an aircraft. A unit of The Boeing Company and headquartered in St. Louis, BDS is one of the world's largest defense, space and security businesses specializing in innovative and capabilities-driven customer solutions, and the world's largest and most versatile producer of military aircraft and commercial/civil/government space systems. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Experienced in system architecture and design; product evaluation and selection
  • Experienced in troubleshooting and problem solving complex systems detailed above
  • Experienced in hardware installation, cabling and configuration
  • Managing end of service life status on all hardware and software and developing mitigation plans as needed
  • High level of technical knowledge spanning multiple technologies and engineering disciplines
  • Working knowledge of operational procedures and methodologies supporting 24x7 data center operations including configuration management. Actual operations experience is highly desirable
  • Provide vision and leadership, perform resource planning, provide detailed reports/status and communicate to multiple levels integrating several program segments

Qualifications 

This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. 

Ability to Obtain Final Clearance (Pre-Start) Required 

Typical Education & Experience

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. 

Basic Qualifications

  • CCNA, CCNP or other Cisco Certifications
  • Experience with VMware

Preferred proficiency in the following areas is desired

  • At least 3 years of project management experience
  • Network engineering (voice, data and video)
  • Serial Data over Ethernet
  • Cisco Network Devices (Routers, Switches, and Firewalls)
  • Radio Base Stations
  • Computers (Linux, Windows, & VMware)
  • Administering user system access
  • COMSEC
  • Quintron Voice (DICES) and Data Multiplexer devices
  • UPS
  • Test equipment
