The National Team provides systems engineering solutions to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) for the development and evolution of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). The BMDS is an integrated, layered architecture that provides multiple opportunities to destroy missiles and their warheads before they can reach their targets. The National Team engineering includes system performance analysis in support of BMDS architecture & concepts analysis, and requirements development.
The selected individual will perform end-to-end systems analyses of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) supporting the systems engineering process for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). Individual will perform BMDS performance analyses utilizing large-scale complex BMDS Modeling and Simulation (M&S) tools and utilize the results to support systems engineering products for MDA. Individual will also perform development, updates, and benchmarking/anchoring of BMDS M&S tools, as necessary to support system analysis tasks. Individual will support analysis activities and products and coordinate with multiple functional group leads, senior management, and government personnel responsible for executing analysis tasks. The individual will support the documentation of analysis results in reports and briefings to be presented to the National Team, Industry, and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) representatives.
The individual will use simulations and/or physics-based calculations to perform various complex system engineering analyses including end-to-end system performance assessments, performance requirements feasibility analysis, system capability assessments, optimization of BMDS architectures, and system gaps and needs assessments. Analysis may span a broad range of systems including current BMDS elements and subsystems, ballistic missiles, hypersonic vehicles, RF sensor systems, EO/IR sensor systems, space platforms, kill vehicles, and other future BMDS concepts.
Occasional travel is required.
This position is contingent on contract award. This position requires candidate acceptance by industry partner resource control board.
