Technical Data Management Specialist - Virgin America Technical Publications Team

 

18 Month Assignment - Burlingame, California

 

Position
Technical Publications team is tasked in providing Virgin America with current manufacturer, component and company manuals. This is done utilizing industry leading software and hardware solutions.

The role of the Technical Data Management Specialist will be to ensure manual currency, distribution and availability compliance in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations and company policy .

Main Areas of Responsibility

  • Records original issues and revisions of documents from vendors in a variety of media types.
  • Determines routing for documents.
  • Edits documents using XMetal in a Content Management System for review by subject matter experts.
  • Works with subject matter experts to ensure content consistency across manuals system.
  • Maintains distribution, control, and revision service to ensure the timely distribution of appropriate manuals and revisions as required by Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and Virgin America.
  • Maintains the Virgin America Technical Publications library.
  • Prepares documents for distribution using a variety of methods, including the internet, intranet, email, express delivery, and regular mail.
  • Delivers documents to the airport operating areas as required.
  • Analyzes and provides root cause corrections to resolve Quality Assurance Audit Findings assigned to the Technical Data (Publications) department.
Professional Experience Required
  • Experienced using structured document software preferred (XMetal, Framemaker, etc.)
  • Knowledge of interrelationships of airline functions preferred.
  • High degree of proficiency using Microsoft Office Products.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to keep costs down using innovative ideas and/or resources.
Job Requirements
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Able to work onsite at Virgin America Headquarters - M-F
Professional Certifications and Education Required
  • College degree preferred
