The technical writer will perform technicalwriting functions for various NAVAIR platform projects to include writingmilitary maintenance software and hardware technical manuals using ASD S1000DIssue 3.01 and 4.1 XML specification in order to create Interactive ElectronicTechnical Manuals (IETMs). The technical writer will create new, updateexisting, and convert legacy technical manuals and training support materialsusing the ASD S1000D Issue 3.01 and 4.1 XML specification. This position willbe located at the KBRwyle offices in Orange Park, FL and will work with anintegrated team of government and civilian employees who support these NAVAIRplatforms. The technical writer must be able to author IETM Data Modules fromengineering documentation provided by the government. Using engineeringdocumentation, operator and maintenance manuals, logistics data, and receivingdirection from an integrated maintenance team, the technical writer willcreate, write, revise, standardize, edit, review, finalize, and publish IETMs.The technical writer will prepare draft material for internal review by subjectmatter experts and final review by customer. The technical writer will utilizeAdobe Acrobat, Oxygen XML, NAVAIR Standard IETM Viewer (NSIV) and MicrosoftOffice products. The technical writer must be flexible and have the ability toadapt to new information and programs.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of four (4) years of experience or aHigh School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of eight (8) years of relatedexperience is required. A certification in assigned area preferred.

Experience: Experience with XML authoring is required. Experience authoring USNmaintenance information directly from engineering source data is required.NAVAIR organizational maintenance background is required; electronic ratingsare preferred. Experience authoring NAVAIR maintenance manuals related totechnical manual development, delivery, and integrated logistics support (ARs,MIL STDs and MIL-PRFs, IETMs, DIDs, etc.) is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be able to prepare draft Data Modulesand other material for internal review by subject matter experts and finalreview by customer. Must be able to work independently, be team-oriented, andpossess strong customer interaction skills. Must be flexible and have theability to adapt to new information and programs. Ability to write in a clearand concise manner, possessing excellent verbal and written communicationskills is required. Must have knowledge of US Navy organizational and/orintermediate maintenance concepts. Must have the ability to research, review,and understand technical information and engineering drawings, and be able todevelop procedural information from technical documentation. Must haveextensive knowledge of IETM development procedures using S1000D and DoDMIL-STDs used to develop product deliverables for NAVAIR Maintenance ManualIETMs. Preferred applicant will be familiar with NAVAIR Standard IETM Viewer(NSIV) and Oxygen XML software application. Familiarity with Eagle PublishingSystem is a plus.

Equipment and Machines: Ability to operate office equipment such as personalcomputer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and other equipmentincluding desk supplies and other work related tools as required.

Attendance: Anticipated as Monday-Friday. Regular attendance of scheduled hoursis critical. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meetdeadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situationsbased on critical mission requirements. Must demonstrate professional behaviorat all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers. Must haveclear, concise and accurate communications skills, both verbal and written.Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose asafety risk to employees or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere bybehaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personaltransportation to work site is required. Applicant will be working in bothoffice and aircraft hangar settings.

Applicant selected may be subject to a government security investigation andmust meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
