Basic Purpose of position:

The Technical Writer, Maintenance is responsible for developing, establishing and maintaining aircraft cards, standards and work practices, to which all aircraft will be maintained. These standards shall be documented in written procedures available to all applicable Maintenance employees via JazzNet.

Key Activities:

*

Research aviation industry standards and cutting edge new technologies to aid in aircraft standards development.

*

Responsible to assist, establish, document, audit and revise as applicable:

*

Maintenance Work Practices

*

Maintenance forms, task cards

*

Presentations

*

Consult with stakeholders/aviation industry to clarify details and source material.

*

Create and assist with the creation of user-friendly documents using Word, and Adobe formats.

*

Make use of document cross-referencing tools, such as hyperlinks, bookmarks.

*

Plan layout of work, arranging sequence of topics and placement of graphics to produce user-friendly documentation that is logical, readable and easily understood while adhering to Regulatory Standards and Corporate Policies.

*

Verify quality of publications by:

*

Reviewing for correct use of the English language ensuring regulatory and legal information is clearly presented to mitigate possible misinterpretations of the document by its end users;

*

Maintain consistency with Chorus/Jazz document/maintenance program standards.

*

Obtain approval from the publication or document owner to ensure requirements of the initial request are met.

*

Identify possible internal process improvement opportunities (i.e., increased efficiencies).

*

Prepare documentation for digital and hardcopy presentation.

*

Document standards into procedures, practices and programs for Heavy maintenance employees and contractors to obtain and maintain a consistent high standard for the Jazz fleet.

*

Work with OHS and Safety Management to ensure procedures (including PPE use) are adequate.

*

Review linked documents for proper alignment and consistency.

*

Research into new and existing products/equipment to ensure the most cost effective and efficient system is in place.

*

Other related duties as assigned.

*

Perform duties in accordance with established policies and procedures while giving primary consideration to personal safety, and the safety of co-workers and customers.

Qualifications:

*

Post-Secondary Education (Degree/Diploma) is an asset.

*

AME (Aircraft Maintenance Engineer) license is an asset.

*

Office administration or Technical writer training is an asset.

*

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is required.

*

Knowledgeable in RF Flow/Visio/ Process mapping is an asset.

*

Ability to create and assist with the creation of user-friendly documents using Word and Adobe formats is an asset.

*

Experience working as a technical writer is a definite asset.

*

Experience working in the Maintenance department of an airline is an asset.

*

Advanced level of experience working with large documents (i.e. regulatory and non-regulatory manuals and Engineering), including formatting for consistency using features such as styles, templates, form fields, etc is an asset.

*

Superior writing, editing, and communication skills (attention to detail) is required.

*

Proficiency in the English Language (Canadian/Oxford) including grammar, punctuation, use of capitals, italics, etc.

*

High quality problem solving and analytical skills are required.

*

Motivated team player, able to also work independently in a fast paced, deadline driven environment is required.

*

Excellent time-management, communication, and organizational skills required.

*

Must be self-motivated, enthusiastic and have a positive attitude.
