Description
 SUMMARY The Aircraft/Composite Finishing Technician is responsible for the preparation and application of coatings on component parts and assemblies. The parts range from all metal to fiber-reinforced composite construction. The job entails following detailed process specifications and meeting finish acceptance requirements.  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -Required operations include, but are not limited to the following: stripping of previously applied finishes, preparation of substrates (old and new), filling and sanding, application and sanding of both epoxy and urethane primer coats, application of both urethane and epoxy top coats. -Other duties and responsibilities may include working with additional materials as well as other job functions such as assembly. -Follow verbal and written instructions. -Able to perform all Finishing Technician Requirements. -Work independently, if required or as a team member. -Lead small finishing projects, acting as a liaison between other technicians and the supervisor. -Assist in the development of improved methods, techniques and lead the process of transfer of these skills to others. -Capable of performing inspections of finishes and through this process prevents defects and enhances departmental quality. -Accountable for quality, budget and safety performance in the finishing area. -Assist in training of other Technicians. -Maintain a clean, organized area including all finishing equipment. -Follow standard shop practices as well as defined process specifications in the preparation and application of finish coatings. Preparation for finishes applied to composites often entails filling and fairing of fiberglass and carbon fiber substrates by employing both hand and power tool sanding techniques. -Consistently meet or exceed schedules and budgets. -Cross train in other positions as required. -Advocate a working environment that promotes creative thinking, problem solving, and ingenuity while maintaining a high ethical standard. -Promote a team environment with a positive attitude. -Adhere to all AAR Composites Safety Procedures and Safety Accountabilities (Ref: SP-011). -Participate in ISO, AS 9100 and Continuous Improvement requirements. -Work towards a lean MFG concept. -All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
 QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Must have a minimum of 1 year related experience and/or training. -Must be able to operate conventional spray equipment, pressure pots, airless sprayers and other related equipment as required. -10 plus years experience, working as a finish painter in the aircraft, automotive, boating or manufacturing industry. 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about the facility. The environmental characteristic for this position is a warehouse setting. Candidates should be able to adapt to a traditional warehouse environment. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and comply with OSHA standards
