Honeywell is hiring an Engineer I for our South Bend, IN facility. This job is with Honeywell Aerospace, under the Product Support Engineering organization and a member of the Materials Technology Center group. The work will be supporting Engineering and the ISC Customers on Aerospace and high performance braking materials.


* Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of technical analysis for products and systems

* May participate in development of a range of Lab Procedures and Techniques

* Recommends alterations to development and designs to improve quality of products and/or procedures

* Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field

* Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job

* Works under immediate supervision

* Typically reports to a supervisor or manager

* Technical skills include a broad understanding of Material analyses to support Anodize line and other chemical processes in Production

* Operate and Develop analytical equipment such as XRD, XRF, and ICP with ability to independently review and analyze results

* Demonstrate a broad understanding of chemicals and chemistry

* Must participate in many cross-functional teams with Engineering, ISC and other lab members to resolve issues and solve problems affecting production, development and fielded products, processing and applications, knowledge of equipment used for processing, understanding of mechanical and design requirements for aerospace components, effective communication and participation on teams with considerable manufacturing and design process focus


* Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical or Material Engineering

* Must be a US Citizen due to ITAR restrictions


* X-ray experience

* Experience working with aerospace special processes, e.g. writing work instructions, developing process parameters, troubleshooting, and may also include auditing processes or specifying equipment

* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross functional teams, to listen, influence and lead as needed

* Experience or basic knowledge of carbon/carbon composites including, high temperature chemistry and physics as well as standard materials characterization techniques or familiarity with equipment used to process such materials

* Technical writing, prepare reports and follow-up with supplier/ manufacturing on the successful closure of corrective actions

* Teamwork skills, able to work in a variety of team roles within cross-functional teams

* Written and oral communication skills

* Ability to facilitate interpersonal relationships, resolve conflicts tactfully, confidently, quickly, & positively influence others

* Self-starter able to adapt to dynamic environment, creative problem solver, able to prioritize tasks based on conflicting business objectives and project closure focused
