Position Overview:

The Vice President of Engineering is responsible for providing overall leadership and direction to the Aerospace Engineering and Technical Publications departments with regards to their operation and business development.

Key Areas of Responsibility: .

Shall include but not be limited to the following:

* To establish the standards for Engineering and ensure they are enforced throughout the Aerospace Operating Unit.

* To ensure that sound, efficient, and professional engineering practices are utilized while developing current and future products and services trends that align with the overall business strategy.

* To ensure that both the Engineering and Technical Publication groups meet their commitments for cost and schedule.

* To develop, negotiate and implement the Engineering and Technical Publication branch budgets.

* To participate in the development of management procedures and policies for the Aerospace Operating Unit, as well as, the IMP Aerospace strategic plan.

* Provide strategic leadership and direction for Engineering and Publications aspects of all programs within the operating unit.

* Use effective communication in order to ensure clear and objective goals, responsibilities, and timelines between all stakeholders, both internal and external at a senior level;

* To establish and implement project management principles within Engineering and Publications.

* To provide support to other IMP Aerospace development initiatives and lead where appropriate.

* Provide advice and guidance to the EVP on Engineering and Publications matters.

* To assist with major IMP Aerospace initiatives that cross the boundaries between operating units for IMP Aerospace and Defence.

Position Requirements:

* B.Eng. or B.Sc. (Eng.) (Electrical, Mechanical, or Aeronautical) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Formal Business Management training an asset.

* Qualification for or registration as a professional engineer in the province of Nova Scotia an asset.

* Minimum of 15-20 years of experience in progressive engineering management roles. Preference will be given to applicants that have experience in aerospace engineering and exposure to business development responsibilities.

* Detailed knowledge of the role and operations of both Department of National Defence and Public Services & Procurement Canada will be considered an asset.

* Working Knowledge of accounting/management information systems.

* Strong written and oral communication skills.

* Knowledge of airworthiness regulatory frameworks is desirable.

* Ability to adapt to shifting timelines and priorities in a very structured and regulated environment.

* Demonstrates an ability to provide a strategic approach to addressing complex issues and problems.

* Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
