Welder will support test fabrication in the Puget Sound area. Must possess an active WABO (Washington Association of Building Officials) Card. Must be able to perform all welding/cutting operations on all metals. Perform Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) per the applicable Boeing Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS). Make adjustments during the process of the weld to compensate for variations in thickness, mismatch, gap, equipment anomalies, assembly fit-up, etc. Perform brazing, sil-brazing, oxy-fuel cutting, plasma arc cutting, carbon arc gouging, flame straightening, and flame bending. When a WPS is not required, select electrodes, gas cups, filler metal, weld current, arc voltage travel speed, gas flow, wire size and feed rate per the weld schedule or other furnished information. Measure, layout, set and align. In preparation for or after welding, operate saws, disk grinders, drill presses, and other associated shop equipment to accomplish assigned work. Work in conformance with drawings, specifications, and verbal or written instructions, trade practices, and applicable codes. Welder must be able to work in all positions and at heights. Follow all safety processes as defined. Fabricate shop aids and holding devices to facilitate work assignment set up and align work in welding fixtures and block/clamp/secure parts as necessary. Maintain cleanliness of welding equipment and general weld area. Request repairs when and as required to maintain welding equipment in optimum operating condition. Organize and maintain welding supplies. Prepare lists for requisition of welding supplies, equipment and material as required. Move, lift and/or turn materials or weld structures as required, utilizing various types of shop lifting equipment. Assist in the identification and documentation of best practices, process standardization and improvement activities associated with pressure piping and structural welding. Perform work described in other maintenance classifications when incidental but necessary to the accomplishment of a welding assignment.
